Internal Medicine: Emphasis on diabetics and pain therapy
Geriatric Medicine: Comprehensive patient care by a team of specialists and therapists. Physical therapy is also offered as an outpatient services after a clinical stay.

Vaccination Clinics: Wednesdays & Fridays, 14:30-15:30 hours.
Thursdays 16:00-17:00 hours. No appointment necessary.
Closed on public holidays.


Tropical medicine is but one of the specialization areas of the Paul-Lechler Hospital, internal and geriatric medicine are the other two. We are proud to follow the latest standards based on research evidence. after a hospital stay our patients are thoroughly prepared for living at home before being discharged. For terminally ill patients doctors continue to consult on an outpatient basis in cooperation with our home care project.

Tropical Medicine: Care for sick Returnees
Patients from all over Germany are sent to us to treat diseases acquired during stays in tropical countries. As one of the largest clinics for tropical diseases in Germany we treat over 2500 patients every year, both on an in-patient and out-patient basis. Our team is qualified in tropical and travel medicine, microbiology, and the epidemiology of infectious diseases. We base treatment on the latest evidence in current research and we combine it with years of experience.

Travel Medicine – Expert Advice and Vaccinations
Thousands of travelers come to our outpatient department every year for check ups and advice on prevention of tropical diseases. We dispense counseling on water and food hygiene, insect repellents, malaria prophylaxis and recommended vaccinations. We also advise persons with chronic diseases and special handicaps who plan to travel. All vaccinations are immediately available including yellow fever and Japanese encephalitis. In recent years migrant medicine has become a new field of specialization.

Laboratory Facilities
Having our own laboratory on site to conduct tests in parasitology, microbiology and serology has given us an advantage in diagnosing infectious diseases. Our lab specialists contribute years of experience the job thus assuring quality.
Our laboratory receives daily requests for analyses from other hospitals and private practitioners. Early and fast diagnosis of infectious diseases can be life-saving.

Competence Centre for Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases
Many of our doctors have spent long years of their professional life in tropical countries and have gained unique expertise on specific regions. Their knowledge is a valuable resource for doctors throughout Germany and Europe. We respond to inquiries from other hospitals and private practitioners, advise churches, organizations and companies regarding medical questions, serve as medical contact for professionals traveling overseas and assist with the selection of medical personnel for overseas projects.
